A TLIF cage (Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion cage) is a specialized surgical implant used in spinal fusion procedures to stabilize the lumbar spine through a transforaminal approach. It replaces a damaged disc with a cage filled with bone graft material, inserted from one side of the spine to minimize neural retraction. It helps restore disc height, maintain spinal alignment, and promote solid bony fusion between adjacent vertebrae. TLIF cages are commonly used in combination with pedicle screw and rod fixation systems, providing immediate mechanical stability and supporting long-term fusion success.

Product DESCRIPTION

The TLIFIC™ TLIF (Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion) Cage System by Siora Surgicals Pvt. Ltd. is a precision-engineered spinal fusion solution designed to restore disc height, stabilize the lumbar spine, and promote solid bony fusion between adjacent vertebrae through a transforaminal approach.

Manufactured from high-quality, biocompatible materials — including PEEK (VESTAKEEP®), Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V ELI), and 3D porous Titanium — these cages combine strength, durability, and imaging compatibility. Their anatomical and tapered design facilitates smooth insertion through a unilateral approach, while porous structures encourage bone ingrowth for faster fusion.

Available in lordosis profiles of 4° and 8° and lengths of 28 mm, and 31 mm, the TLIFIC™ system allows surgeons to select the best fit for each patient’s anatomy and surgical requirements.

Designed for ease of insertion and optimal positioning with minimal neural retraction, the TLIFIC™ Cage System helps improve surgical outcomes and patient recovery. Backed by stringent manufacturing standards, Siora Surgicals ensures consistent quality and reliable clinical performance.

PRODUCT FEATURES

1. Advanced Material Options

  • Available in PEEK (VESTAKEEP®), Titanium (Ti‑6Al‑4V ELI), and 3D Porous Titanium, offering high mechanical strength, excellent biocompatibility, and an elastic modulus close to human bone for optimal load sharing and fusion support.

2. Enhanced Fusion Environment

  • Large Axial Window: A maximized hollow core accommodates greater bone graft volume, promoting faster and more robust bone in‑growth and fusion.

3. Clear Radiographic Monitoring

  • Central Radiographic Marker Pin: Extends to the bullet‑nose tip for precise implant tip visualization during insertion.
  • Two Anterior Tantalum Markers: Enable accurate anterior position assessment under fluoroscopy.

4. Smooth Insertion & Controlled Positioning

  • Bullet Nose End : Provide tapered, pointed entry for smooth navigation into narrow disc spaces, minimizing tissue trauma and assisting in disc space distraction.
  • Self‑Leading Rail: Guides and turns the cage into the desired position along the prepared vertebral endplate path.
  • Connecting Cylinder: Facilitates controlled pivoting in coordination with the applicator for precise placement.

5. Secure Fixation & Migration Resistance

  • Specially Aligned Pyramidal Teeth: Positioned on superior and inferior surfaces to ensure strong primary stability and reduce the risk of cage migration.

6. Anatomical Design & Lordosis Profile

  • Anatomically contoured to match vertebral body physiology, enhancing implant stability.
  • Available with a & 8° lordosis angle (except in 7 mm height) to restore natural lumbar curvature.
Clinical Indications

The TLIFIC™ TLIF Cage System is indicated for the treatment of various spinal conditions using a transforaminal approach, including:

1. Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) with Spinal Instability

  • Degeneration of intervertebral discs leading to pain, reduced disc height, and segmental instability, requiring stabilization and fusion.

2. Spondylolisthesis (Degenerative or Isthmic, with or without Stenosis)

  • Forward slippage of a vertebra, often associated with spinal canal narrowing, resulting in instability and nerve compression.

3. Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

  • Narrowing of the lumbar spinal canal leading to compression of neural elements, commonly associated with pain, numbness, or weakness.

4. Revision Procedures (Post-Discectomy Syndrome / Failed Previous Surgery)

  • Persistent or recurrent symptoms following prior spinal procedures, requiring stabilization and interbody fusion.

5. Pseudarthrosis or Failed Previous Fusion

  • Failure of prior spinal fusion resulting in non-union, persistent pain, and instability requiring revision surgery.

6. Trauma, Tumor, or Spinal Deformities

  • Structural compromise due to fractures, neoplastic lesions, or abnormal curvatures (e.g., scoliosis, kyphosis), requiring stabilization and reconstruction.

frequently asked questions

What is a TLIF PEEK cage used for in lumbar fusion surgery?

A TLIF PEEK cage is used to restore disc height, stabilize lumbar segments, and promote bone fusion during Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) procedures.

TLIF cages are typically implanted unilaterally through a transforaminal approach, whereas PLIF cages are inserted bilaterally through a posterior approach.

TLIF cages are available in PEEK (VESTAKEEP®), Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V ELI), and 3D porous Titanium, offering strength, biocompatibility, and excellent imaging compatibility. They are sterilized using gamma radiation (ISO 11137), ensuring residue-free sterility in sealed packaging.
